This park has become my favorite spot in Tuscania. I go there before and after class sometimes to read, study, journal, or just enjoy the view.
It is a beautiful walk from the school or my house down the characteristic cobblestone roads, with houses or apartments on either side with their open shutters, flowers in window boxes, clothes hanging on a line. The streets are quiet and usually empty, and all you can smell is the fragrant flowers from all directions.
It takes about 5 minutes to get there, and you walk through this arch, and that is when you can see the entire view of the landscape. Whenever you walk under that arch and into the park, it is like a different world. Peaceful, and tranquil.
The only sound is the trickling fountain, and there is land as far as you can see. On Monday when I was there, I was reading my cooking homework, and a little girl, about 5 years old came right up, sat down next to me and asked me if I would get up to help her chase the bees. Haha She was adorable! On Tuesday when I was there, I was joined by a friendly cat, who curled up right next to my feet.
I sat there, eating my peach from the family's farm (that Manuela so kindly packs every morning, because she says I should always have a snack after class and she never misses an opportunity to feed us!) and doing my homework, and it makes me feel so lucky to have the opportunity to experience this.
