FISH!

Today (Wednesday) in Cooking class, we were learning how to cook fish, and I got to clean and filet my first fish!  It was soo cool!  I've never even touched a whole fish before, but I got to do everything, clean in, take off the scales, cut the filets, everything.  It was a little gross, but a learning experience.  We made this fish (orata) with sliced potatoes, and we were going to make spaghetti with clams and truffles, but the clams were not good, so we used zucchini flower instead.  Delicious.  Giordano, my teacher, is a jack of all trades, so not only is he a chef and baker, but he makes his own wine too which we got to try.  After class, Irene set up a cooking class for only API students, so we got to cook twice in one day.  With API, we learned how to make homemade gnocchi, tomato sauce, roasted pork with zucchini, and two kinds of tiramisu (one with ricotta, and one with mascarpone).  Can you tell it is the season of zucchini here in Tuscania?  haha I've had more of that this week that ever!  The dinner with API was really nice.  We ate outside, listened to some Michael Buble in the background, and had a blast.  After the lesson, we all went to caffe del Duomo for a little while, which was fun because we ran into Oleania so I got to meet a lot of her friends and classmates.  Thursday I have midterm exams, and have to pack and get ready for my weekend in Sorrento and Capri.  Can't wait :)
